Besides the day-to-day operations of transporting sick and injured patients, U.S. Air Ambulance also has established a comprehensive disaster management program: The Hospital Evacuation Liaison Program (HELP) for hospitals and nursing homes. The program addresses the logistical difficulties inherent in mass patient evacuation, including locating and contracting with patient transport providers and receiving hospitals.
“Our goal is to take much of the relocation burden off of the hospital or nursing home personnel,” stated Clif Carothers, President of U.S. Air Ambulance. “When a disaster occurs, we realize your staff must be focused on medical and facility issues. Our program is designed to help you every step of the way, from the grant-writing process through identification and mobilization of transportation suppliers, training, coordination of the evacuation and financial accounting.”
